Hydrostatic pressure sensors allow for highly accurate continuous measurement of underground and surface water levels.
The sensors have a compact design (min. diameter 16mm) and are submerged in water, with the liquid level determined by the pressure of the liquid column on the measuring membrane.
To compensate for changes in atmospheric pressure, a barometric pressure sensor is used on the surface or a special cable with a capillary (breathing) tube. When using such a cable, it is necessary to consider that when the cable is brought to the surface, it must be protected either by a filter cap or by routing it into a warm room, since moisture entering the capillary tube will simply flood the device.
Differences of hydrostatic level meters

A hydrostatic level meter is a device used to measure the liquid level in a tank or container. It is based on the principle of hydrostatic pressure, i.e., the pressure of the liquid at the bottom of the tank, which is proportional to the height of the liquid column above the sensor.
The principle of operation of the hydrostatic level meter is as follows: a submerged pressure sensor is installed in the tank, which measures the pressure of the liquid at a certain depth. The sensor sends a signal to an electronic unit where the pressure is converted into the liquid level according to a known relationship.
The main advantage of the hydrostatic level meter is its accuracy and reliability in measuring liquid levels. It can be used to measure levels of various liquids, including water, oil, chemical reagents, and others.
However, the hydrostatic level meter has some limitations. For example, it is not suitable for measuring gas levels or liquids with high viscosity. It is also necessary to consider the influence of liquid density on measurements, so sometimes compensation for this factor is required.
Hydrostatic level meters are widely used in various industries, including the oil and gas industry, chemical industry, water supply, and other fields where accurate liquid level measurement is an important parameter for process control and management.
Autonomous level sensors
