Equipment Rental for Pneumo Audit

Compressed air is one of the most expensive types of energy. Electricity costs for its production can reach up to 40% of total energy consumption.

Other energy resources, such as electricity, water, or gas, are usually controlled and therefore their costs are transparent. Also, unlike compressed air, water leaks are usually detected quickly due to visible leakage and, consequently, are eliminated immediately. Leaks in compressed air networks go unnoticed. At the same time, losses range from 20 to 50% of compressed air. Even during pneumatic equipment downtime, the compressor continues to operate, compensating for air leaks.

Since compressed air is quite expensive to produce, it must be used practically; otherwise, the production cost will be too high.

To identify energy-saving opportunities for specific production conditions, special studies of enterprise pneumatic systems (pneumo-audits) are conducted. First of all, they find out: where, in what quantities, and for what purpose compressed air is used. Measuring air consumption provides information that allows not only improving the technological process but also simply eliminating existing air leaks, which in itself is an important energy-saving reserve.

Conducting a pneumo-audit allows obtaining an accurate picture of the pneumatic system's current state. It provides the opportunity to assess the condition of compressed air production and distribution systems and identify problematic sections of the enterprise's pneumatic networks.

Energy-saving reserves

In most cases, pneumatic consumers are not equipped with devices to measure air consumption, which leads to its irrational use and lack of incentives for saving. Losses up to 10%.

Due to the distance of compressed air consumers hundreds and even thousands of meters from the compressor station, there are significant gas-dynamic losses, condensate plugs, leaks in pipelines that significantly exceed standards. In addition, compressed air consumers require different pressure ranges. Pressure is supplied at the level required by the most "demanding" equipment, and many consumers use much more compressed air than necessary. Losses up to 20-25%.

Inefficient methods of regulating compressed air production by the compressor station: turning compressors on and off, throttling (artificially lowering pressure below atmospheric) at the suction, venting excess air into the atmosphere, the volume of which reaches 15% of compressor capacity. Losses up to 15%.

Outdated compressor equipment with electricity overconsumption of 25-30% compared to modern equipment. Also, these compressors often use water cooling with costs for water treatment. Irrational duct system designs, incorrectly selected pipe diameters, inefficient connecting elements, bends, valves. Pipeline wear, unreasonable distribution of compressed air among consumers. Losses up to 5%.

At compressor stations, during the transportation of compressed air to consumers, moisture separators, air dryers, condensate traps are usually absent or installed inefficiently, non-automated. Losses up to 5-7%.

From the data presented, we see that often the efficiency of compressed air energy use is no more than 35%.

Equipment for conducting pneumo-audit for rent

The set consists of a flow meter, dew point sensor, and pressure sensor transmitting data (measured parameters) to the DS 400 recorder, which accumulates information during the measurement period. The recorded data is subsequently processed on a personal computer using software from CS INSTRUMENTS (Germany).
