Description
The 36 Xi W series is based on a next-generation microcontroller developed by Keller, meeting extremely high accuracy requirements and compatible with a wide range of interfaces. Along with pressure (level) information, data on water parameters such as temperature and conductivity can also be transmitted via the digital interface.
RS485 – Reliable interface for various types of pressures, for lines up to 1.4 km long. Modbus RTU and proprietary KELLER bus protocol
SDI-12 – Standard interface for environmental monitoring, ideal for battery-operated devices
The 36 Xi W devices are based on the proven 36 X devices, which use high-quality pressure sensors from the 10 L series. All X series level converters feature an RS485 digital interface that meets temperature and pressure standards. Optionally, sensors with enhanced accuracy, temperature, and conductivity parameters are also available. Multifunctional devices equipped with pressure, temperature, and conductivity sensors (CTD – conductivity, temperature, depth) have a length of approximately 90 mm.

RS485
Modbus RTU / KELLER bus Protocol
The highly reliable RS485 interface allows creating a network including up to 128 devices and a length of up to 1.4 km. The half-duplex interface speed can be switched between 9600 and 115,200 baud. The proprietary KELLER bus protocol and Modbus RTU protocol are already integrated, allowing data reading as well as configuration and calibration. For this, the free CCS30 software for PC can be used.
Measurement channel assignments (up to 4 channels):
P1 Pressure
TOB1 Temperature (silicon sensor)
T Temperature (Pt1000)
LF Conductivity
Detailed descriptions of the RS485 communication protocols can be found on the KELLER website.
SDI-12
Alongside the standard RS485 interface, providing access to all configuration registers, the level converter is also available in a version with an SDI-12 interface. Only one interface type can be active at a time. Switching between them is done using corresponding commands (default setting: SDI-12). SDI-12 is a standard proven in the use of dataloggers and digital sensors in monitoring applications. SDI-12 has been optimized for use in battery-powered systems that include both dataloggers and sensors combined into one network. The interface is based on a standardized protocol using ASCII. In SDI-12 mode, the pressure converter is active only during polling by the logger or during measurements. At all other times, the device is in standby mode and consumes very little power (<1 mA).
