Description
The M5 piezoresistive pressure sensors, thanks to their fine threads, are the ideal solution for measurements in hard-to-reach places, as well as in narrow tubes – precisely the conditions typical for engine test stands. The flat front surface of the sensor prevents the influence of gas bubbles on measurement results and allows measurements at temperatures up to 200°C without a cooling adapter. The dynamic range from 0 to 50 kHz enables reliable registration of pulsations as well as static pressure values. The vibration-resistant Teflon FEP cable (IP67 protection class) ensures safe signal output of 80mV from a high-temperature environment.
Sensor Technology
The M5 series sensors include a stable silicon sensing element soldered on the back directly to a reference element specially designed to create perfect hydrodynamics. This design does not have the drawbacks associated with the use of sealing materials, adhesives, separating membranes, or capillary tubes in high-temperature environments. The open membrane installation type provides an excellent dynamic range from 0 to 50 kHz. The micromechanical design offers an absolute pressure range up to 3, 10, and 30 bar, protection against 5-fold overloads, effective insulation during installation, and extremely low dead volume.
Operating Conditions
Thanks to the connection materials (silicon oxide, stainless steel, and gold), the M5 series pressure sensors have excellent media compatibility. They are designed to operate in a temperature range from -50°C to +180°C and can output a signal in the range of 80 mV (at 1mA supply). Sensors are supplied with an individual calibration certificate. The device equipped with a remote measuring amplifier is called M5 HB (see the corresponding brochure) and has a total error of 1% FSO within the operating temperature range.
