Duct CO2 Sensor - Purpose

Principle of Operation of the Duct CO2 Sensor

Typically, an infrared sensor is used as the CO2 sensor, which responds to changes in the intensity of infrared radiation absorbed by carbon dioxide.

When air passes through the duct CO2 sensor, the carbon dioxide in the analyzed air absorbs a certain amount of infrared radiation. The sensor then measures the change in the intensity of this radiation and converts it into a numerical value reflecting the CO2 level in the air.

These numerical values are usually displayed on the sensor's screen or transmitted to the ventilation control system for further processing and system adjustment. If the CO2 level exceeds established norms, the sensors can automatically activate ventilation systems to supply fresh air and reduce the carbon dioxide level in the room.
