SS 20.651 – new improved version of the flow meter for high-temperature media

The German flow meter manufacturer Schmidt Technology has started producing SS 20.651 devices for measuring gas flow. These flow meters are an improved version of the well-proven SS 20.650 devices. Like the previous versions, the SS 20.651 flow meters are designed to measure gas flow at high temperatures (up to +350°C).

The new devices retain all the advantages of the previous versions:

• A wide range of different measurement ranges
• Versions for both atmospheric and excess pressure up to 16 bar
• Availability of both analog output 4...20 mA and digital outputs Profibus and DeviceNet
• Ability to install on pipelines from small to very large diameters

In addition, the new SS 20.651 flow meters have several advantages compared to previous versions:

• A new measurement range of 0...2.5 m/s is now available for the flow meter for small flows. Combined with the high accuracy of the flow meter (1% of the measured value + 0.4% of the upper measurement limit), this measurement range allows for precise flow measurements even at extremely low flow velocities.
• A remote version of the flow meter has become available. In this version, the electronics unit can be installed remotely from the measurement location. This can be critical, for example, if the environmental conditions at the measurement site do not meet the operating conditions of the flow meter electronics (for example, when installing the flow meter outdoors).
• The flow meter is now available with a Parylene protective coating. This allows the device to be used even in contaminated or aggressive environments.
• The electronic components of the flow meter have also been modified, making measurements even more accurate and stable.
