SCHMIDT announces new mass air flow sensor with multi-point measurement
This week at the Hannover Messe exhibition, SCHMIDT presented the new SCHMIDT® InLine mass flow sensor with an impressive multi-point measurement principle.

Mass air flow sensor gas
Stable and accurate measurements in complex pipeline sections
Usually, installing a flow meter on short or near-bend sections of a pipeline leads to flow instability and unstable measurements. SCHMIDT solves this problem by integrating the proven thermal anemometry principle into the new SCHMIDT® InLine mass flow sensor with multi-point measurement (MPM). Thanks to the radial arrangement of four measuring points, the new device provides stable and accurate readings even in complex pipeline sections.
The measuring section consists of two parallel sensor holders, each equipped with two high-precision independent flow sensors. Between the holders is a temperature sensor for the measured medium. The SCHMIDT® InLine flow meter with Multi-Point-Measurement technology determines the flow velocity, after which data can be immediately read via 4 … 20 mA / pulse output. No additional pressure or temperature measurements of the measured medium are required.
For industrial processes and compressed air
The SCHMIDT® InLine flow meter with Multi-Point-Measurement technology is the ideal solution for various complex production tasks. Possible applications of the sensor include monitoring compressed air and industrial burner gases, tracking compressed air consumption, measuring air and gas flow, and measuring compressed air flow.
Additional modules for extended functionality
The SCHMIDT® InLine flow meter with Multi-Point-Measurement technology is equipped with four two-color LED indicators that allow monitoring of current flow information (in the form of icons) as well as the current device status. Flow and temperature measurements are output independently through separate outputs. An additional input allows connecting extra equipment to the sensor, expanding the device’s capabilities.
Reduced installation and maintenance costs
The sensor is very easy to install. It only needs to be inserted into the pipeline and powered. Thanks to the measurement principle, the flow meter operates without any moving parts, which eliminates premature sensor wear and other possible causes of signal distortion. Installation and maintenance costs are minimal.
